About
Walnut Law is owned by Sue Walter, a solicitor who has practised law since 1999.
She is a member of The Law Society of New South Wales and her legal qualifications are:
Bachelor of Arts and Laws (1998) - University of Sydney
Diploma of Legal Practice (1999) - The College of Law
Admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia
Legal Practice Management Course (2026) - The College of Law
Sue has experience across a broad range of commercial disputes, from the local courts of NSW to the Supreme Court of NSW to the High Court of Australia.
As Prosecutor for Transport for NSW, she has appeared as a court lawyer in various transport and driver licence-related hearings and appeals at local and district courts of NSW.
While she is happy to assist clients in litigation where needed, she is also passionate about commercial decision-making and negotiating resolution of disputes before they escalate so that people can get on with their lives.
Outside Walnut Law, Sue is the Senior Legal Counsel and in-house lawyer for Maitland City Council, a role she values for the ability to help the people in the local community. She handles a broad range of legal advice, court work, as well as the drafting and negotiating of agreements.
Having previously owned her own small businesses, she understands the commercial demands of owning a small business. Sue is also a Mum, a qualified Nutritionist, and a soap-maker. She is passionate about her beautiful family, good health and nature, and the right of every person to be who they are.
